Behind The Science

Hello!

My name is Erin and I've created this website to bring understandable and interesting science to everyone and anyone. Nearly everything is science.Your cell phone, computer, brain, language, body, sandwich, spaceships, and so much more is science! Understanding this science gives us a fundamentally better understanding of the world around us and help us shape the world we want to be in. In this website, I will endeavor to write engaging articles that will spark anyone to tap into their scientific mind.

RESEARCH INTERESTS

Physics

As the most fundamental science, physics asks the questions of: how does the universe work? Seems like a simple question, especially with all we now know about gravity and subatomic particles. However, the implications can take us so much farther. Through physics, we can harness inter-planetary travel, learn the secrets of black holes, and discover the nuances of Quantum theory.

Environmental Science

The beauty of planet earth is being threatened and disrupted. Through the study and observation of the environment we can find solutions to the grave problems we face. Through the advocating and expansion of that information, we can start preserving our environment and finally making a better world for future generations.

Psychology and Mental Health

Sadly, mental health is still misunderstood and stigmatized. According to the National Alliance for Mental Illness, 1 in 5 adults will experience mental illness, and 1 in 25 will live with serious mental illness (Citation Link). Once again, through better understanding and access to information, millions of lives can be made better.

Linguistics

How do we speak? What shapes do our mouths take when we say an s or h? What goes into an accent? What goes into imitating an accent? Where does our slang come from? Linguistics covers all that and more. Learning about Linguistics can give us a better understanding of others and how we communicate.
